After the announce a few weeks ago of a upcoming new version of Mupen64-360, the first (and only) N64 emulator for exploited xbox360 consoles, GliGli is proud to share today an open beta build of it This emulator use the libxenon library and is based on the wii port (wii64 by tehpola, sepp256, emu_kidid) of mupen64 a N64 emulator for PC.

For installing this emulator, just copy the content of the archive at the root of a usb key and start your console on XeLL by pressing eject (or you can also use DashLaunch 'Excecute' feature and select the elf file). If you found any bug please report it in the news thread.

Description
===========

Mupen64-360 is a Nintendo64 emulator for the Xbox 360, it's powered by libxenon and it's a port of Wii64 (which itself was a port of Mupen64).

Usage
=====

Unzip on USB sick, then run from Xell.

Many ROM formats are supported, zipped ROMs also work.

In the browser, the Back button changes the current drive, A selects, B goes to parent dir.
Ingame, Back toggles Framerate limiting, and the Guide button quits to the browser.

Other controls are described in the emulator itself.

The browser background image is loaded from /mupen64-360/bg.png on the USB stick, other backgrounds are provided.

Options
=======

- Controls (l->r):
Changes the way N64 directional controls are mapped to the 360 gamepad, from left to right.
EG: Stick / D-Pad / C-buttons means N64 stick will be mapped on the 360 left stick, N64 D-pad on 360 D-pad, and N64 C-buttons on 360 right D-pad.

- Textures:
Changes the texture enhancement filter, depending on games, some filters will look better than others.
Be aware than the highest settings can slowdown games a lot, or even crash them in some rare cases.

- CPU core:
Controls the speed/compatibility ratio, from fully featured dynarec to interpreter mode.
'No linking' and 'No VM' are new dynarec modes that can make some games work, while still running at playable speed.

- Framerate limiting:
When enabled, games won't go faster than they would on a real N64. Can be toggled ingame with the Back button.

History
=======

v0.992 Beta: Almost a complete rewrite, notable changes:

- Moved to Mupen64 Plus core.
- Moved to Rice video plugin.
- Dynarec overhaul.
- Faster and way more compatible.
- More control over the speed/compatibility ratio (see 'CPU core' option)
- More texture enhancement filters.
- Basic controls remapping.
- GUI improvements.
- Built with recent libxenon/ZLX (more supported filesystems, less bugs, ...)
- /!\ Use the Guide button to quit a game, Back toggles framerate limiting now.

v0.96 Beta: First binary release

You are launching it using dashlaunch?
If yes, try direclty from XeLL (usb key + eject button)
If not, try another usb key

I tried it on different USB's and its the same thing. I burned it to a DVD and it worked fine though, but wen i press the back button to see diff directories it gives me the segmentation error again..Some ppl are havin the same issue as well with this. One guy said he tried on his usb stick it didnt work, but wen he tried it on his USB hdd it worked. I tried all that, only the DVD worked but wen i press the back button to go thru the directories, same error again..

Also i tried both Dashlaunch and Xell. This is definitaly some sort of bug in the emulator.

I've been having issues with the past version as well as this one where after a certain number of times using the emulator, something is changed which causes the normal xbox to run at a lower framerate/clock speed after loading multiple xex's. I find if I go back into the emulator, toggle framerate limiting on/off it fixes the problem occasionally. I realize the exact issue is a little hard to describe, but I have a nand image with/without this bug present if someone would like to take a look at it. Currently running a Jasper 512mb with latest dash version.

i also get Segmentation Fault if i try to load it from my 2gb usb thumb drive. if i try and load it from my usb hdd i get stuck in a loop of it telling me bad header. both from loading right from xell (eject botton)

i was able to load the 1st Mupen64 from my usb hdd.

i was really looking forward to this. to find out it dont work ; ;.

Change log said
- Faster and way more compatible.
- Built with recent libxenon/ZLX (more supported filesystems, less bugs, ...)

i have xell reloaded v0.991. as far as i know thats the latest and is whats used in the video.
aslo, not that it should matter but im on the latest dash 16192 and DL 3.04
i dont see that this is faster, way more compatible, or less buggy.
if anyone gets this to work i would love to know how.

Emulator resets wen u try to run a rom....this issue needs to be fixed. This release is not good for the public at all. No1 can run this without having huge issues.

so I have had the same issue as most. However after scrolling through these comments i tried putting this emu on my 2tb external hdd. Amazingly it worked. It would not work on either of my 8 gig usb keys or my 16 gig usb keys. i find  it odd to be working on my 2 tb but hey im stoked. wcw vs. nwo revenge works now and thats worth it to me.

Stop complaining so much, it's a OPEN BETA! it's not a "final release" version...

ALPHA = Expect MANY MAJOR bugs to appear
BETA = Expect bugs to appear...
RC = Release Candidate (Don't expect any major bugs to appear)
FINAL = Expect a few very small/rare bugs to appear...

Both with the previous and latest version I get no video. The elf seems to load but I get a black screen and the TV says no input. Any clues? I'm outputting via HDMI, corona board.

Launching via DashLaunch from root of USB.

Sadly, xell and libxenon based application as Mupen don't currently work with corona motherboard.
There a video output problem as you experienced ... you will have to wait this bug is fixed and a build with the video fix released

I wondered if there was a more root problem with Xell. Damn, thanks for the info.

Wow, googling it doesn't bring me much hope of a fix any time soon.
